Job Description
The Opportunity
Reporting to the CEO – Australian Business, you will lead MTR Australia’s business development strategy, identify and secure major commercial opportunities, and build the partnerships required to strengthen MTR’s position as a trusted transport and infrastructure partner.
Your remit spans:
Rail operations and service delivery opportunities
Major infrastructure and precinct development bids
Integrated transport solutions and customer‑focused innovations
Strategic partnerships with government, industry, and investors
You will also help shape how MTR’s global expertise — including integrated development models — can be adapted to the Australian market where appropriate.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and execute a national business development strategy aligned with MTR’s long‑term growth ambitions
Identify opportunities across rail operations, infrastructure delivery, precinct development, and integrated mobility solutions
Lead multidisciplinary bid teams through the full lifecycle — from early positioning to contract award
Oversee commercial modelling, feasibility assessments, and partnership structures
Build and maintain influential relationships with government agencies, transport authorities, planning bodies, and industry partners
Provide strategic insights on market trends, competitive dynamics, and commercial pathways
Represent MTR at senior forums, industry events, and government engagements
Lead, mentor, and develop a high‑performing business development team
Desired Skills and Experience
About You
You bring deep experience in business development, commercial strategy, infrastructure, transport, or property development, with a track record of securing major opportunities in complex, multi‑stakeholder environments.
You will also bring:
10+ years’ senior leadership experience
Strong understanding of the Australian rail, transport, planning, or property sectors
Demonstrated success leading major bids or PPPs
Exceptional stakeholder management and influencing capability
Strong commercial acumen and negotiation expertise
Advanced strategic thinking and analytical capability
Confidence representing an organisation at executive, political, and industry levels
