Job Description

We are seeking an experienced CCS Engineer to oversee the design, delivery, and integration of Central Control & Communication Systems (CCS) for large‑scale railway projects. This role is ideal for a seasoned engineering professional who thrives in a multidisciplinary environment and is ready to take ownership of critical system interfaces, approvals, and delivery outcomes.

You will play a pivotal role in ensuring system compliance, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders, and leading a team to achieve successful project milestones.

 

What You’ll Be Doing

Leadership & Delivery

  • Lead a team of engineers in the design and delivery of CCS‑related activities
  • Manage CCS Significant Contractor deliverables and ensure milestone approvals
  • Oversee site installation, testing, progress monitoring, and issue resolution
  • Ensure all works comply with approved design documentation and safety requirements
  • Handover & Completion support

Technical & Interface Coordination

  • Review and comment on technical submissions, resolving issues, design clarifications and conducting inspections
  • Coordinate with internal and external interface parties to ensure timely, high‑quality information exchange and resolution
  • Analyse programme issues and provide recommendations to senior management
  • Prepare and manage defect lists, follow up close‑out, and support system handover to the Operator

Safety & Culture

  • Promote a strong Zero Harm culture
  • Build effective working relationships across the project team and stakeholders

Desired Skills and Experience

What You’ll Bring

Qualifications

  • Degree in Electrical, Electronic, Communication, or Computerised Control Engineering (or related discipline)
  • Professional engineering membership (preferred)

Experience

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in Communications and Central Control Systems for major rail projects
  • At least 4 years in a managerial or supervisory role
  • Strong background in multidisciplinary project environments

Skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Highly organised with strong deadline management
  • Solid understanding of OCC systems, including COM and CCTV control systems
